Job Function:
In this position, the candidate acts as the face for many of Shemin Nurseries’ customers, there is a responsibility to deliver excellent customer service while delivering products to our customers.
Essential Duties:
* Provide timely and courteous delivery of products between various types of establishments.
* Drivers may also assist with loading and unloading products.
* Make minor mechanical repairs to ensure the truck is in good working condition.
* Perform daily inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor; clean equipment.
* Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
* Operate trucks for the delivery, pickup and relocation of products.
* Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
* Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs.
* Maintain and protect all property entrusted to you in excellent condition.
* Perform any other tasks assigned to support and improve the overall team operations.
* Assist in maintaining the cleanliness of the branch and general duties when not driving.

Skills & Qualifications:
* 5 years minimum driving experience
* Must be CDL, Class A licensed
* Proven safety record
* Ability to work overtime as the season requires
* Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions
* Ability to work in adverse weather conditions; both heat and cold
* Be able to lift and carry approximately 50 - 100 lbs repeatedly
* Ability to safely drive various types of vehicles
* Ability to operate and maintain equipment in a safe manner at all times
* Requires prolonged sitting, driving and material handling equipment operations
* Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.
* Ability to communicate effectively
* Ability to work independently
* Ability to operate a Manual Shift truck - 12 gears with a splitter
* Experience with Airbrakes
* Experience operating forklift - preferable to have Teldyne Princeton Piggyback forklift experience
* Experience in the horticultural industry or a retail/wholesale environment is a strong plus
* High School diploma or GED
