Job Function:
This position is focused on day-to-day site activities: loading and unloading product and processes of shipping and receiving, overall site maintenance and assisting with excellent customer service.
Essential Duties:
- Load and unloading product for shipping and receiving.
- Maintain product and yard, including warehouse and yard merchandising.
- Yard/warehouse order taking: Provide fundamental product information to customers including pricing and availability. Locate appropriate technical assistance when necessary. Load customers.
- Verify materials against receiving documents, report discrepancies and obvious damage.
- Assist in promoting Shemin marketing and merchandising efforts.
- Support all other sales and operational activities.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Less than 6 months experience in a customer service environment
- High customer orientation
- Good attention to detail
- Materials handling equipment experience preferably forklift
- Ability to work overtime as the season requires
- Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions;
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions; both heat and cold
- Must be physically able to lift up to 75 pounds without assistance (occasionally, regularly, routinely, throughout the course of the work day)
- Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the body mechanics associated with safe lifting techniques and knowledge of principles of strain & sprain prevention
- Perform functions of position standing approximately 95% of day
- Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) a plus
- High School diploma or GED
- Perform other duties as necessary
- Experience in the horticultural industry or a retail / wholesale environment is a strong plus
