The Inventory Manager position contributes to the success of the company by deploying inventory to achieve financial goals as well as customer service levels. The Inventory Manager position requires an individual with a great understanding of the business environment as well as detailed knowledge of the inventory planning software suite. Some of the responsibilities of the Inventory Manager include: establish and maintain replenishment plans, review/resolve exceptions found by planning software, set and maintain safety stock parameters, and overall drive inventory optimization.
Responsibilities
* Implements inventory strategy and deploys inventory to achieve financial goals as well as customer service levels
o Establish and maintain business rules for lead time, safety stock, network, and the supply planning cycle
o Develops replenishment plans based on business rules
o Review and resolve exceptions: stock out, stock low, and excess
o Tests and monitor various inventory strategies and determine impact on customer service and inventory investment. Work with demand planners to select new strategies
* Monitors and balances inventory levels across the network and communicates shortages to demand planning and customer service
o Possesses knowledge of all inventory locations and be able to source products from alternate locations to meet demand
o Identifies potential inventory obsolescence situations
* Masters the supply planning system and software
o Trains and supports new users on supply planning
o Able to communicate issues to the appropriate level within the business
Qualifications
* Four-year university degree or equivalent in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or Finance
* Statistical analysis skills and experience working with very large data sets
* Detail oriented, self-starter
* Experience in Supply Chain areas such as forecasting, demand planning
* APICS certification preferred
* Experience with spreadsheet tools and demand planning software
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Able to interact with management team, including senior management
* Understand the linkages between distribution requirements planning and other supply chain processes such as demand planning, inventory planning, procurement, and transportation.
* Understand distribution strategies, products, markets, and customers, business experience in retail, operations, logistics, distribution, and inventory management.
* Familiar with transaction systems and decision-support tools, data base creation and manipulation, spreadsheets, word processing, graphics, Supply Planning.
* Ability to work in a complex matrix environment and receive cooperation and input from people not under direct supervision.
